In England, The Perse School is regarded as a highly respected independent day school with a rich history of academic excellence. Founded in 1615, the institution has continuously expanded over the centuries and now includes The Perse School Singapore. As a result, children living in Singapore now have access to the acclaimed school’s exceptional programs. Pupils receive a well-rounded education that emphasizes character development as much as academic achievement.

A Positive Environment Fosters Learning

Perse School students thrive in a reassuring community characterized by encouragement, mutual respect, and care. There is a strong focus on helping each child reach their goals. The environment is designed to ensure pupils are happy, which is considered necessary to do their best.

The staff keeps in close contact with children’s parents to ensure students get the very best out of their school experience. Teachers and administrators also partner with parents to address any concerns.

The Curriculum Challenges Young Learners

Each student’s character is nurtured as they are encouraged to work toward outstanding academic achievement. The Perse School offers unique programs designed for learners in groups aged five to seven and seven to eleven. There is currently a plan to add a third category for eleven to thirteen-year-old pupils. The curriculum in each phase is broad, balanced, and stimulating.

Instructors trained in specific subjects teach classes that include daily Mandarin classes, Singapore mathematics, and English. They offer geography, science, history, music, and art. Instructors also teach global perspectives and digital literacy.

Extracurricular Activities Encourage Social Skills

Children enrolled at the Perse school are encouraged to become involved in activities that expand their experiences beyond the classroom. These extracurricular activities (ECAs) help students become more involved in areas that interest them. Pupils can choose from an array of creative, active, and academic areas. Extracurricular activities help young people develop endurance, patience, and resilience. Programs include:

  • Creative Extracurricular Activities. Children are encouraged to explore creativity through activities like choir, art, band, photography, music, and drama.
  • Academic Extracurricular Activities. Designed to spur intellectual development and curiosity, the school’s academic ECAs include robotics, debates, science, and mathematics.
  • Active Extracurricular Activities. Pupils are offered the chance to get involved in physical activities that promote mental and physical health while teaching perseverance and teamwork. Active ECAs include swimming, tennis, football, martial arts, and dance.

A House System Teaches Collaboration

Each new student is assigned to one of four houses. They are Foresters, Barbarians, Corinthians, and Nomads. Students can earn house points for positive achievement and behaviour and have a chance to receive awards and certificates. Collaboration among pupils in each house provides the opportunity to win the prestigious House Cup, which goes to the house with the most points. Working towards the cup encourages pupils to work together as they strive to win inter-house competitions.

An International branch of England’s acclaimed Perse School has opened in Singapore, offering young learner’s unique benefits. Pupils are assigned to Houses that encourage them to work together to win inter-house contests. Students learn in a nurturing but challenging environment that stimulates character building. A range of extra-curricular activities helps ensure a well-rounded education.
